Apple has patented a security system for devices with flexible displays. The accelerometer in the smartphone will detect the fall during a sharp acceleration. If the design is foldable, then the device will change the angle of the hinge so that the impact falls on the edge, not the screen.

If the display is rollable, then it will automatically begin to twist when dropped to reduce the area that will have to be hit.
According to rumors, the first iPhone with a flexible display will be shown no earlier than 2025. The technology will first be tested on the iPad, which will go on sale in 2024.
