Two of the applications available exclusively on the first Apple Watch Ultra have recently appeared on the App Store: we are talking about Siren and Depth, whose information cards allow us to take a closer look, even before we can get our hands on the all-resistant smartwatch of Cupertino.

In fact, Apple Watch Ultra was announced at the September 7 event along with Series 8; but while the latter can already be bought in stores, the model for adventurers can be bought starting Friday 23 September.
Siren, as the name suggests, is the app that allows you to activate the siren integrated into the watch. In fact, being aimed at people who practice extreme sports in remote locations, Apple has well thought of integrating a new speaker into the Watch Ultra dedicated precisely to the emission of high-frequency sounds that can be heard over long distances.
According to the developer, the Siren app emits an acoustic warning of 86 decibels that can be heard up to 180 meters away. This function can be useful if the user gets lost or if he is injured and needs to attract the attention of someone nearby for help.
Based on what we learn from the screenshots published on the App Store, the app interface seems rather basic: there is a button in the center of the screen that allows you to start or stop the siren, and just above the percentage indication of the ‘residual energy in the battery; at the bottom of the screen instead the shortcut to call the emergency services.
The other appeared in the digital store and available exclusively on Apple Watch Ultra is Depth and is used to monitor underwater activities up to 40 meters deep. Apple writes:
Use the Depth app for recreational underwater activities up to 40 m (130 feet), from snorkeling and free diving, to just playing in the pool. Displays the current depth, the water temperature, the duration of the dive and the maximum depth you have reached. Choose whether to automatically activate the app as soon as you dive.
For these characteristics it becomes clear why these apps, although present on the App Store, can only be installed on the new watch: with Siren you need the dedicated amplifier, while for Depth it is the sensors incorporated only in Apple Watch Ultra that make the difference. . If they were then published in the store it is only to allow users to uninstall the apps at will and then reinstall them at a later time.
