Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced the project in a company blog post, describing the tool as an experimental conversational AI service, in other words capable of answering users’ questions and conversing.
Bard is based on LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications), which has been in development for two years in the Google labs. It’s been made available to a handful of trusted testers for now, but Pichai said it will “be more widely available to the public” in the coming weeks.
