Rumor: Apple will introduce its own modem no earlier than 2025

Rumor: Apple will introduce its own modem no earlier than 2025. According to Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu, Apple will continue to use Qualcomm modems until at least 2024. The company will introduce its own modem only in 2025.

“Dynamic island” iPhone 14 Pro ported to Android

Qualcomm is Apple’s main modem supplier. The development of their own modem became known back in 2018. It was assumed that the first iPhone with an Apple modem would be released in 2022, and then the date was moved to 2023.

According to Jeff Pu, the next generation of iPhone will use a Qualcomm X70 modem, which can provide download speeds up to 10Gbps and also reduce power consumption. In 2024, smartphones will receive a Qualcomm X75 modem, which will be manufactured using a 4nm process technology, which will affect energy efficiency.

Apple’s own modem is an important thing. This is even more independence from third-party companies, as well as savings: you do not need to pay for development, the use of patents, and so on. Having your own modem is a matter of time, and the pandemic and other world events are likely to affect the announcement date.
