“Keep in chat,” the soon-to-appear feature, allows users to long-press on a message that is about to disappear to ask to keep it. WhatsApp states that if a user decides that his message cannot be kept by others, his decision will be final: no one else will be able to keep it and the message will be deleted when the timer expires.
If a recipient requests to keep a message that is about to disappear and the sender agrees, the message will instead get a bookmark icon to indicate that it can be found in the user’s kept messages folder, organized by chat.
WhatsApp says the feature will roll out globally in the coming weeks.
