Apple Music Classical arrives on Android before iPad and Mac

Apple Music Classical arrives on Android before iPad and Mac. Not only did Apple’s classical music app arrive earlier on Android than the iPad and Mac, but it’s even better than the iPhone app in at least one way. The launch on the Google platform took place in the last few hours and already in this first version it is appreciated for the care that the team has dedicated to its development, creating an app that will certainly not disappoint the expectations of subscribers who wish to access the new service from Android devices.

Belkin introduces the first fast charging battery for iPhone and Apple Watch

Apple Music Classical arrived first on iPhone in late March, and there as on Android starting today, you need to be an Apple Music subscriber to listen to Apple Classical. The dedicated app that bears the same name must then be downloaded because at least for now Apple Music and Apple Music Classical, although they work with the same subscription (there are no additional costs for Classical), make use of two separate applications

This distinction is made necessary by the fact that, although the interface is almost superimposable (the main difference is the font, Serif for Classical, Sans Serif for Apple Music), metadata are managed in a completely different way. So at least until Apple finds a way to manage this information from the application itself, there will be a dedicated app for classical music.

At first glance the same functions and differences found in the Apple Music and Apple Music Classical apps for iPhone seem to be reflected in their Android counterparts, with a small surprise on the latter (since we are on a non-Apple platform ): crossfading, which is a feature that the company currently only supports on Mac.

Why Android before iPad, Mac and CarPlay?

Prioritizing app development for Android rather than optimizing it for iPad, Mac version or CarPlay, as annoying as it may be for users who only use Apple devices, still makes sense because this new Apple service is a child of Primephonic, the company bought in August 2021 which, following the acquisition, had to remove its classical music service from all platforms, including Android.

Meanwhile, the Apple Music Classical app for iPhone has practically never been updated since its launch, so now that the one for Android has been completed, perhaps there will be more time to work on adding new features and improvements.
