iOS 18 Set to Introduce Vision Pro-Inspired Design Updates. Apple is poised to refresh the iOS interface with the upcoming iOS 18 update, drawing inspiration from the design elements of Vision Pro’s operating system, visionOS. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, renowned for his accurate Apple insights, this design evolution is expected to be unveiled as early as this year. While rumors of a design influenced by visionOS had been circulating, Gurman clarifies that the changes, although inspired by visionOS, will not amount to a complete overhaul.

The transition from iOS 6 to iOS 7 marked a significant design shift, but the updates with iOS 18 are anticipated to be more subtle, focusing on refining the system to complement the introduction of new features, particularly in artificial intelligence. Gurman has described iOS 18 as an “ambitious and compelling” update, emphasizing its blend of innovative features, design enhancements, and strides in performance and security.

On the macOS front, Gurman notes that Apple has initiated preliminary design changes, with more significant updates expected around 2025 or 2026. The last major update, macOS Big Sur, was introduced in 2020, marking a substantial evolution in the desktop operating system’s aesthetic.

Details on iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 are likely to be unveiled at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. Apple CEO Tim Cook also hinted at advancements in generative AI, promising more details to be shared within the year. This aligns with Apple’s ongoing efforts to integrate cutting-edge technology across its software lineup, signaling an exciting phase of innovation and user experience enhancement.
