Oneplus 11 review: a top of the range with a good price (for 2023)

Oneplus 11 review: a top of the range with a good price (for 2023). It has now been 8 years since Oneplus announced its first device to the world. During this time, the manufacturer has inevitably lost a part of its soul, presenting devices that are sometimes too expensive in relation to what is offered. However, this year something has changed and Oneplus 11 has rekindled the light of hope in the fans of the brand. It is in fact, at the moment, the only device launched that combines exceptional hardware with a lower price than its competitors, and a large part of this merit comes from the competing companies which instead have raised their prices dramatically ( either because of inflation or because of margin).

Design & Ergonomics

From the point of view of design Oneplus 11 is not a distortion compared to its predecessors, so much so that for the purposes of the choice perhaps we cannot consider it a decisive aspect. The only appreciable difference compared to the 10 Pro and 10T is found on the back, where a completely redesigned photographic compartment stands out to house the new sensors which we will tell you about shortly. This year the Pro model no longer exists, but don’t worry because the device inherits its dimensions, effectively eliminating the possibility of having a more human-sized version. Furthermore, on this year’s model the manufacturer has decided to reintroduce the much loved selector for notifications, greatly absent on the previous model.

Frontally we find the brand new 6.7 ″ display with 2K resolution and Fluid AMOLED technology. Just like last year’s model, we also find a 120 Hz refresh rate which, thanks to the introduction of the LTPO 3.0, allows it to go down to 1 Hz when not necessary. For example, in all those moments when we are using our smartphone to read a book or an article online, Oneplus 11 will drop the refresh rate, allowing us to save battery.

Hardware & Performance

Talking about hardware on modern devices has now become almost a secondary aspect. Top of the range and medium range are able to guarantee performance capable of satisfying all usage needs, even by the most demanding users. Despite this, Oneplus 11 uses truly exceptional equipment, which has nothing to envy even to its more expensive competitors. In fact, we find the brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with 16 GB of LPDDR5X type RAM and 256 GB of storage with UFS 4.0 memories.

Needless to repeat an obvious concept, Oneplus 11 is one of the fastest smartphones on the market. The light hardware and software allow it to constantly maintain very high performance, both in conditions of daily use and during the most intense gaming sessions. The new Graphene heatsink also allows you to always keep temperatures at bay, avoiding annoying power cuts or reductions in display brightness as instead happened on some previous models.

Functionality

As per Oneplus tradition on board we find the Oxygen OS 13, based on the Android version of the same name. Compared to the past, the influence of Oppo and its ColorOS is evident both in the settings and in the graphic aspect, much more tending to the Asian market. However, the interface is much more mature than in the past and richer in options useful for customization by the user. For the most hardcore gamers, a customizable and accessible game mode has also been introduced with a simple swipe down on the right side of the display.

Camera

The photographic sector of Oneplus 11 has been totally modified compared to the previous generation, further consolidating the collaboration with the photography giant Hasselblad. The main sensor of the device is the new Sony IMX 890 with 50 megapixels and f/1.8 aperture. The ultra wide angle sensor is instead a 48 megapixel and the telephoto is 32 megapixel.

The quality of the shots has improved drastically compared to the previous models and now we can certainly say that Oneplus 11 is a camera phone. Color science optimized in collaboration with Hasselblad makes shots faithful in both night and day. These are rich in detail and feature very low digital noise in almost all situations. Although the Pro mode gives the possibility to shoot in Raw and Raw Plus format, unfortunately we find a limit in the photo format. In fact, the maximum quality will be usable only and exclusively in 4:3 mode.
