Samsung Releases New Updates: First January Patches, Android 13, and More

Samsung Releases New Updates: First January Patches, Android 13, and More. Month after month, Samsung reconfirms itself as a virtuous example in the Android world as regards software updates — we told you about it in a dedicated content — and, while a competitor has decided to take a cue, the South Korean manufacturer has started 2023 exactly as it had finished 2022: releasing new software updates — including major updates and security patches — and even beating Google with the release of new monthly security patches.

Samsung Galaxy A03, F12, Galaxy Note 10, A70, M33 5G: the news of the updates

This collection of software updates for Android smartphones is set solely at Samsung, but there is a certain variety of content, both for the generations and price ranges covered, and for the innovations included in the updates being distributed.

Samsung Galaxy A03 and Samsung Galaxy F12 are not exactly the top models of the South Korean manufacturer, nor are they the most famous, therefore the fact that two exponents of the low cost range are updating to Android 13 in these hours only demonstrates once again the goodness of the software support offered by the brand in question. Going into the details of the updates, Samsung Galaxy A03 is being updated starting from Serbia to the firmware version A035FXXU2CVL4, which includes Android 13 and the One UI 5.0 in the Core version (therefore lightened compared to the one present on the more expensive models); there is no shortage of new security patches either. Samsung Galaxy F12, on the other hand, is being updated in India (the only market where it is present) to the F127GXXU3CVL4 firmware version with Android 13, One UI 5.0 and the November 2022 security patches.

Putting aside the two major udpate of this collection, let’s talk about yet another record of the Korean house: the former Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ flagships are the first Android smartphones ever to update to the January 2023 security patches. The distribution of the new udpate started in Switzerland and will soon spread to other European countries. Unfortunately, as often happens, the roll out started so soon that Samsung has not yet presented in detail the corrections present in this new SMR (Security Maintenance Release); in any case, continue to follow us, because as soon as the update is presented we will bring you the most important information.

Staying on the topic of monthly security patches, we now have to rewind the tape by a couple of months: the affordable Samsung Galaxy M33 5G is receiving the SMR of November 2022, rolled out in India with firmware version M336BUXXU3BVL6 and in other countries (Indonesia, Holland, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia, Thailand and Vietnam) to version M336BXXU3BVL4.

The latest update to get to know is the one having the old medium-range Samsung Galaxy A70 as its recipient: this model, no longer a first hair, is officially included in the list of recipients of six-monthly updates, however Samsung — after having already distributed the two updates expected for 2022 — gave away a third to Galaxy A70 owners. The distribution kicked off last December 30 and the firmware version A705USQS2DVK1 is available in the USA for models locked with Comcast. The new update includes the December 2022 security patches.
