Apple already offers a basic Depth app for the Apple Watch Ultra to view current depth, maximum depth reached, water temperature, and length of time underwater. Oceanic+ will be a useful tool for divers who need more detailed dive data.

Oceanic+ displays the diver’s current depth, dive time, no decompression time, water temperature, surface time, maximum depth, ascent rate, battery level, selected gas mixture (air or nitrox up to 40%) and more. The app also has color-coded safety alerts for no decompression limit, excessive ascent rate, and safe stop instructions.

The app also includes haptic feedback and dial extensions displaying no-fly time, surface time, quick access to the dive planner, dive settings, current altitude, maximum allowed altitude and shortcut buttons back to the app.

The app is available on the App Store and requires an Apple Watch Ultra running watchOS 9.1 or later paired with an iPhone 8 or later with iOS 16.1 or later. The app’s basic plan is free and includes many standard diving features, including depth, time, and a recent dive log. For $9.99/month or $79.99/year, users get access to decompression tracking, tissue stress, an unlimited dive log, and more.

After a dive, the watch displays data such as the GPS location of the entry and exit points, as well as a summary of the user’s dive profile. The companion Oceanic+ iPhone app provides more detailed dive reports, three-day tide information and more.

Apple advises to always follow diving protocols, dive with a companion, and have an additional device.
