Apple Watch, how to receive notifications only for certain calls or messages? On Apple Watch you can receive various notifications: depending on the app that sent the notification, you can reply to a message, call someone back, archive an email, etc.

If we wish, we can make sure that we receive notifications only for certain messages or calls, a useful option if, for example, we only want to be disturbed by members of our family, our office manager, etc. Notifications will continue to appear on iPhone, (which we can leave on the desk), freeing us from non-fundamental or less important ones. Below, we explain how to proceed:

  1. On the iPhone paired with the Apple Watch select Settings and from here “Full Immersion”
  2. At the top right select “+” and then “Custom”
  3. Assign a name to the setting (e.g. “Family only”), indicating – if you want – a color and an icon, and click on “Next”
  4. The screen that appears highlights the customization possibilities, the possibility of silencing notifications that you do not want to receive, programming the activation of this full immersion, etc. Click on “Customize full immersion”.
  5. By selecting “People” we can indicate the people for whom notifications are allowed; choose “Next”, select the calls to allow, and then “End”.
  6. Now open the Watch app on iPhone, select General, then “Full Immersion” and deselect “Duplicate iPhone” (this allows you to activate full immersion only on Apple Watch).
  7. Open the Control Center on Apple Watch (with the swipe gesture from bottom to top), select the full immersion icon (moon-shaped) and activate the previously created full immersion. You can also select the options “Activate for an hour”, “Activate until tonight” or “Activate until I leave”.

From this moment on, the Apple Watch will play the notification sound only when calls or messages are incoming from previously selected people; more notifications will arrive on iPhone as always.
