I immediately listed all the strengths of the new Infinix HOT 12 Pro, which claims to be an interesting offer in the class of affordable Android devices.

Design
The smartphone received a plastic case, and looking at the device, you can see the material of different textures. So, a flat matte frame runs along the sides, and the back surface is entirely glossy. And this is a great pain, because it constantly collects traces and prints of all stripes. Yes, and photographing the Infinix HOT 12 Pro was not easy. But you can hide the device in a complete case, then additional protection will appear, and you won’t have to wipe the back regularly.
The assembly is dense and monolithic, the smartphone is large and weighty, almost 200 grams. Two control buttons are placed on the right side and are located in a convenient place. Alas, the fingerprint scanner on the rear surface is higher than we would like.
The sensor works quickly, I did not notice any errors when triggered. Again, you can use face unlock through the front camera, but the method is not very reliable.
Display
The screen is very large – 6.6 inches is enough for navigation or watching videos. The reverse side of the coin is the impressive size of the smartphone, you can’t handle it with one hand, and it weighs decently.
I don’t see the point in criticizing it for wide margins and frames, after all, it’s an entry-level model and this is forgivable. In terms of characteristics, the display is the most common. It has HD + resolution, an IPS-matrix with a moderate margin of brightness and a cutout for the front camera in the center.
Color profiles cannot be adjusted manually, the temperature does not change either, and by default the image goes too cold and you want to add warmth. In the settings, you can activate the black theme or turn it on by a timer for the night to reduce eye strain. The night mode also works, when the colors on the screen go into a warm shade. If desired, manually change the refresh rate from 90 Hz to 60 Hz, sacrificing smooth menu animation in favor of autonomy. There is also a third option, when the smartphone automatically selects the frequency depending on the tasks.
Camera
Main camera with 50 megapixels and f/1.6 aperture with phase focusing. By default, the smartphone combines four pixels into one, improving the image, so we get 12-megapixel frames. If you need to get the maximum quality, then switch manually through the settings. In general, there is not much point in this – you have to look for differences by increasing frames on a large monitor.
The secondary camera helps AI recognize scenes while shooting with the main camera. There are two modes for portraits: “Beauty” and “Portrait”. During testing, it turned out that the difference between them is that the first one works without the blur effect, and the second one with it. However, in the first case, the artificial decoration of the portrait works, but not in the second. It would be easier to combine the two modes into one, but this is a question for the developers.
An inexpensive smartphone can be praised for accurate color reproduction, frames using AI are contrasting, but there is no oversaturation of colors, the pictures look natural. But in low light, autofocus misses regularly, and detail suffers.
Among the camera settings, you can find the Super Night mode, then in pitch darkness you will see a little more than just nothing. But of course, there is no quality here, in a smartphone it is “for show”.
The front camera is 8 megapixels without autofocus and in general the simplest, but it has an original feature.
At the top is an LED that simultaneously acts as a flash when shooting in bad conditions. I did not find in the smartphone settings how to use the diode to display notifications, if you know, then share it in the comments.
The maximum resolution for shooting video is 1920 × 1080 pixels, 30 frames per second. The quality is again the most basic, for good videos you need to firmly fix the smartphone or hold it still.
Filling
Specifications are very simple: 12-nm Unisoc T616 chip, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of internal memory, there is a slot for microSD up to 512 GB inclusive. Moreover, another 5 GB can be taken in favor of RAM from your own memory – for a state employee, this is a pleasant nonsense.
For the sake of formality, you can run a few benchmarks, the results are decent, I expected less. Moreover, in throttling tests, the smartphone heats up slightly, it has no problems with a drop in the operating frequency, which even more expensive smartphones cannot always boast of.
However, it’s still not a gaming device. If you play, then only at the lowest graphics settings – CoD Mobile at medium times confuses you with a drop in frame rate. But the interface works smoothly, and the animation reacts without lags. Not everyone plays on smartphones, but every day you regularly navigate through the menu, and these transitions without twitching are definitely pleasing. The shell hides Android 11.
Two SIM cards, of course, are in place, and the microSD slot is separate, so you don’t have to sacrifice an additional SIM card. Despite the modern version of Bluetooth 5, the smartphone does not have aptX and LDAC profiles, you have to be content with basic SBC and AAC.
Autonomy
A 5000 mAh battery is enough for a day and a half of active use of a smartphone with navigation, streaming music and correspondence in instant messengers. The secret is simple: low screen resolution and modest performance. For an hour of playing the device loses about 15-17% of the charge, and for an hour of watching a video it takes about 10%.
Complete with Infinix HOT 12 Pro we get an 18 W power supply. The charging process takes almost two hours.
Conclusion
I liked that an inexpensive smartphone works quickly and smoothly, there are no complaints about the reaction of the interface, I would still like to solve the issue with localization. The abundance of pre-installed software is not embarrassing, everything superfluous can be safely removed. Very good performance by the standards of analogues, but at the same time, despite all the bells and whistles, the most ordinary camera.
I was pleased with the support for 90 Hz, which is rare in this class, but at the same time, Infinix HOT 12 Pro disappointed with too strange screen settings, you will have to get used to it. Another plus is a fast fingerprint scanner, a triple card slot and an NFC module. As you can see, not everything is perfect, but in general, the advantages outweigh and against the background of analogues there is something to pay attention to.
