iPad mini, between dreams of a folding screen and a facade update

iPad mini, between dreams of a folding screen and a facade update. iPad mini will follow the path of iPad Pro. We do not mean by this a professional turning point of the device but a product updated only modestly in the processor. The voice comes from the usually reliable Ming Chi Kuo which provides for a renewal of the machine with the innovations concentrated right in the CPU.

Vivo X90 is ready to debut on global markets

The new model, says Kuo, could not arrive soon: at the end of 2023 or even in the first months of 2024. However, one should not expect a revolution which, moreover, has already arrived with the current model which has square edges and the fingerprint reader in the power button. Instead, Apple should change the processor which would become “the main factor in promoting the device”.

The sixth generation iPad mini was launched in September 2021 and has an 8.3-inch screen, A15 processor, USB-C port, 5G. In addition to this, as mentioned, it offers a design inspired by that of the iPad Pro and has eliminated the home button where the fingerprint reader was. Now the biometric reader is in the start key of the tablet.

If Ming Chi Kuo were right iPad mini would follow the path of iPad Pro. Apple has updated the high-end tablet but has changed practically nothing of the device except the processor. Kuo doesn’t say what processor the iPad mini might have. Currently there could be two candidates: the A16 of the iPhone 14 Pro or the M1 that appeared on various devices and which is currently the processor of the iPad Air.

The idea of an iPad with an advanced folding screen somewhere would be completely wrong. Such a device especially if considered as a replacement for iPad mini would make no sense due to the much higher cost which would totally change the market profile of the device
