PC market recovering slightly, Apple doing well in the second quarter. The long tail of the post-pandemic crisis is still being felt on the electronics market and the IT sector is largely involved in the reduction of interest and purchases, but there are interesting signs of recovery especially in recent months. Global personal computer (PC) shipments declined 15% year-over-year in Q2 2023 but still grew 8% from the previous quarter.

This is what can be seen from data released by Counterpoint Research analysts, which highlight Apple’s good “resilience”.

For Macs, there is an 8% increase in shipments compared to last year. The growth recorded comes after a relatively low second quarter of 2022 and the credit goes to the new products launched subsequently such as the powerful Mac Studios and Mac Pros and above all the 15″ MacBook Air long awaited by those looking for a laptop with a large screen and (relatively ) low cost.

Apple sold 5.5 million Macs in Q2 2023, up from 5 million in Q2 2022.

Inventory levels continue to normalize for everyone in the second quarter; there is an overall double-digit decline year on year, but overall, according to analysts, the situation seems to be normalizing.

“The number of shipments in the second quarter can be seen as an early sign of stabilization in the PC market,” Counterpoint reports. “Due to the absence of flywheels as a growth driver, we expect a slight recovery in the second half of 2023”.
