The Google Home app is enriched with a long-awaited novelty for TVs. Some televisions can be controlled by Nest Hub and finally the developer team of the Mountain View giant has decided to enrich the Google Home app with a touch-based control system.

We recall that in recent months Google has announced that it is working to implement a redesigned control system for the most popular smart home devices in the Google Home app and this concerned in particular devices such as fans, air purifiers, vacuum cleaners and the TVs.

Well, this new system took the form of a series of small visual changes introduced on the control page of a device.

Here’s how the Google Home app changes

According to the reports of some users who own TVs compatible with Google Assistant, the Google Home app now offers a full touch control system and this includes keys for volume management, to turn the device on and off, to start playback or put it paused, to choose the channel and for the source.

It’s the same model as the non-Cast smart speakers, with a big volume switch and pills that house everything else except play and pause.

These controls may already be available on the Nest Hub but now they’re also coming to the Google Home app (in particular, there are reports from Samsung and LG TV owners who have taken part in the Google Home app Preview Program).

This feature, however, is currently not available globally and there is no information on when it will be implemented for all users.
