Durability Face-Off: iPhone 15 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold & Google Pixel Fold Tested

Apple is gearing up to unveil the seventh-generation iPad mini, but recent whispers suggest the new iteration may not sport the much-anticipated 120Hz ProMotion display.

Earlier speculations hinted that Apple was tinkering with a Samsung-provided screen for an upcoming iPad mini version, which could potentially support refresh rates of up to 120Hz. However, the imminent model seems to be sidestepping this feature. Indeed, signs point towards the iPad mini 7 foregoing this high-refresh rate panel.

Earlier in the year, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicated that a revamped iPad mini might be on the horizon either by the end of this year or early in 2024. But he mentioned the updates might be subtle, mainly focusing on the device’s processor and camera capabilities.

Recall that the sixth-generation iPad mini was equipped with the A15 Bionic chip. Meanwhile, the newly launched iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro are powered by the A16 and A17 Pro chips, respectively. A slight specification bump for the upcoming iPad mini could potentially encompass enhancements to both the front and rear cameras. This might pave the way for features like the Photonic Engine to be integrated into the iPad’s ecosystem.
