Vivo enhances photos and videos with new algorithms and dedicated chipsets

Vivo enhances photos and videos with new algorithms and dedicated chipsets. Vivo needs no introduction, which has established itself in our market in recent years as a manufacturer of smartphones, including high-end smartphones: now the brand is introducing a new generation of custom chipsets for images, sensors, photo and video chipsets and other innovative technologies.

These are the novelties of MIUI 14: there are many new things

vivo’s first announcement concerns the Video Imaging Technology Matrix: a technology matrix that sets a new standard for product imaging capabilities. In this sense vivo has created some new modules of imaging technology, including Optical Sensing System, Color Restoration Engine and Accelerated Computing Engine, which allow smartphones to efficiently record and process information related to color, tone and quality of the image.

In addition, other technologies will allow vivo smartphones to better capture the color temperature of the scene, the lighting and other useful information. This is thanks to the support of VCS Bionic Spectrum technology, which ensures better control of image noise and color rendering, improving the signal-to-noise ratio by 20% and the color rendering by 15%, compared to the previous generation IMX866 sensor.

To better manage portraits and night scenes, vivo has introduced Hyper-Sense Portrait System and Vast-Sky Night System which allow for more precise semantic extraction and optimization, greatly improving the expressiveness of the photo.

More specifically, the Hyper-Sense Portrait System provides the user with a complete set of solutions for portrait photography, as well as optimizing subject detail at the micron level. The new Vast-Sky Night System, on the other hand, based on an AI algorithm independently developed by vivo and an enhanced optical sensor, is able to optimize photographic sensitivity by 100%, with ISO up to 102,400.

Naturally, the best will come from the next generation custom chipset. The new generation of imaging chipset will use AI-ISP architecture, for better real-time processing. This is also thanks to the 10-bit MAC circuitry customized to efficiently execute 10-bit operations, reducing inference latency up to 96% compared to traditional NPUs and improving power efficiency up to 200%.

Based on the innovative AI-ISP architecture, vivo’s next-generation chipset includes three custom drive upgrades that help you achieve superior results. First, the upgrade of the on-chip memory unit which allows to reach a data transmission speed of 1.3 trillion bits per second.

Second, the DLA peak power efficiency ratio reaches 16.3 trillion operations per watt. Finally, the image processing unit has been updated to improve the effects of AI-NR noise reduction algorithms, HDR tone blending and MEMC frame interpolation, allowing users a better photo capturing experience.

Furthermore, vivo introduced the next larger proprietary CMOS sensor aimed at next-generation products, with 77% higher light sensitivity capability than GNV. As for the video capture technology, the manufacturer has simplified the LOG mode and the complex color mixing process in post-production, has also developed the recording and viewing of HDR standard video with dynamic metadata, supporting a BT color space .2020 format, 10-bit color depth, and 1.07 billion colors.

In this way, vivo is able to better render the light and dark atmosphere of a place or scene with a variety of cinematic 3D LUT color styles, so that users can create a cinematic experience with just one click. click.
