Apple said it will release an iOS 17 software update to fix the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max overheating issue, sharing more details on the issue.
Apple said the issue is not related to the titanium chassis. Contrary to what was reported a few days ago, Apple said that the design of the iPhone 15 Pro does not contribute to overheating.
In fact, the company said the titanium frame and aluminum substructure provide better heat dissipation than any previous generation Pro model with a stainless steel frame.
Apple said some third-party apps overloaded the A17 Pro chip for unknown reasons, including Instagram, Uber and the racing game Asphalt 9: Legends, and it is working with the developers of these apps to resolve the issue.
Apple later added that the bug fix will not involve reducing the chip’s performance to address the temperature issue and assured that long-term performance will not be affected.
