WhatsApp now allows sending HD photos on iOS and Android

WhatsApp now allows sending HD photos on iOS and Android. WhatsApp has started rolling out the feature that allows you to send HD photos, in other words with a higher quality than previously possible.

Xiaomi wants to catch up and surpass iPhone

Rumors had circulated about this novelty some time ago but now confirmations on the availability of the feature in question have come directly from the CEO Mark Zuckerberg, with a post shared by on their social profiles.

To send photos with HD resolution, simply select the “HD” button displayed at the top of the interface when you are about to send an image or take a snapshot. The option enables the sending of images up to 3024×4032 pixels, of higher quality than the previous images which could have a maximum size of 960×1280 pixels (device designed to not weigh too much on the occupation of space and the sending of file).

The rollout of the new feature has been activated and it may still take a few days before the option is visible to everyone. The novelty concerns both iPhones and Android devices, but will also be available for those who use Whatsapp from a browser.

It should be noted that, even if the HD indication is present, the images sent via Whatsapp are always and in any case subjected to compression; if you want to avoid this problem, it’s better to send the images with other systems (e.g. via Airdrop on iPhone or attached as documents), in order to keep the original format.

Another novelty recently introduced in the centralized instant messaging app are the new instant video messages: the ability to record and share short personal videos directly in the chat. Video messages are a way to reply to chats in real time and say what you want in 60 seconds; just tap to switch to video mode and hold to record. You can swipe up to freeze and record video automatically. Videos will automatically play in the chat without sound; to activate the audio, just touch the video
