The AirPods with USB-C charging will also be at the Apple event on September 12

At the Apple event on September 12, AirPods with USB-C charging will also be available. The entire iPhone 15 lineup that Apple will present on September 12 is expected to have a USB-C connector instead of Lightning. According to Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, in addition to the iPhones, Apple will present renewed AirPods, also provided with a charging case with a USB-C connector instead of the Lightning connector used so far.

“To harmonize with the new iPhones, Apple will showcase updated AirPods at the event, including USB-C charging port,” Gurman reports.

The Bloomberg editor does not indicate details on the new AirPods and it is not clear whether he is referring to the AirPods, the AirPods Pro, or both models, but obviously all the earphones proposed by Apple will use the USB-C connection for charging. To corroborate indications relating to the different charging system for earphones, there are also references identified in the update to iOS 16.4.

It is not clear whether, in addition to charging with the USB-C connection, the new generation earphones will boast new features; the third generation AirPods were presented in October 2021, and the second generation of AirPods Pro in September 2022, and it may be time to offer new features on both the first and second variants.

The European legislation which obliges various devices to be equipped with the USB-C port will also make this port mandatory on other Apple products: AirPods Max, MagSafe battery, Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, various adapters.
